LEFT BRAIN GARDENING (THE LOGICAL, STEP-BY-STEP SIDE)

We are doing a unit on the Brain in my classroom and today we listed the strengths of the two hemispheres. Here's a list of some of the general areas and how it would relate to gardening for the LEFT side or logical/sequential side of the brain.

Reading: Gardening books, internet, other garden blogs
Math: Calculating seed amounts, measuring for walkways, adding up the PRICES for plants and supplies, paying your water bill (ugh!)
Logic: Why do I garden? just joking....I meant to say ....Planning a garden path and placement of water features, etc.
Maps: Figuring out zones, mapping microclimates in your garden
Science: The Latin names of plants and animals in your garden
Organization: Tools, plants, designing garden sheds, greenhouses,
Time: Figuring out timelines for the future, determining growth rates for trees and shrubs
Building kits: Following step-by-step plans for a structure or putting together machinery

Don't you suddenly feel smarter for having a garden? :0)
Next up: The Right Side of the Brain....the artist in you.
