I rushed home from work today to find that my bottle tree had already bloomed!
Judging from the photo, there had to be at least 6 buds in bloom simultaneously.
What a show! And I missed it...
What's really sad is that this particular species RARELY blooms at all.
This is either Bottela glassei (pronounced 'glass-E-eye') or one of the famous Hilsen Farms
cultivars like Bottela x 'Blue Tango Two' or Bottela x 'Deep Blue Drunk'.
Either way, it's a tragedy.
What's really odd is the fact that only the right side bloomed. I'm guessing it's because that side gets a little more sunlight. Anyone else want to hazard a guess?
The blooms were probably yellow and that's exciting since it goes so well with this shade of blue.
So....from now on I'm marking my calendar ONE YEAR in advance.
Thanks for stopping by!

ReplyDeleteI like your bottle tree, even when it's not blooming.
That's a good one. Love your unique looking bottle tree.
ReplyDeletehahaha! You totally had me! I was so confused, but buying it anyway!
ReplyDeleteMine have NEVER bloomed! You must tell me your secret :-)
ReplyDeleteRe your comment, you can just hush about bromeliads! I'm not listening anyway ... la la la ...
That's really cool.....not the missing it part....but the blues and flowers are a great idea. Just several more weeks until school is out....:)
ReplyDeleteI was almost conned!
ReplyDeleteWhere can I get some seeds for that bottle tree? ;)
