Here's the gauge at 3.7" (9.4cm) and it kept raining! By nightfall, it was at 4.0" (10cm) for the day!
That's more rain in one day than all the rain of all the summer months combined!

The Wall of Water started in west Texas last night and slowly swept across the state all night long. By morning another stream of rainstorms had started in Houston as we waited for the main event. Both systems converged here and it never
stopped raining the entire day. Even far South Texas got a nice dose of thunderstorms. Thanks be to God.
Maybe the pattern is shifting.
It had been so long since I'd heard thunder in the morning that my wife and I were both puzzled by the noise. We thought one of our neighbors had dropped a big box.

Perhaps trees will be saved all across our state and hope is on the rise.

  1. That's great news David! I'm glad you got the soaking that was needed. I hate to think of those beautiful forest dying off around your city.

  2. Hip hip hooray! That's great news! Can't complain about a decent 4 inches of rain.

  3. It's the talk of the town! We only got 2" but are mighty grateful for it. I don't think it will do much to help many of our trees but t least it should help some. I just hope it soaked in and didn't run right off.

  4. What a relief! So glad Texas has some rain, finally. How happy you all must be! God is gracious!

  5. It was beautiful, wasn't it? We got just under three inches here.
It's a start in the right direction.

  6. It was amazing to see that wall of water all the way from Texas to Canada! Soooo glad most of Texas got rain. And wahoo to you for getting almost 4 inches!!!! We got 1.6", and were happy to have it! Like you, my husband and I were puzzled at the noise - then finally I asked "Is it RAINING outside?????!!!!". (It was dark out.) We ran out to watch it! Fun times!

  7. woo hoo! That's great news!! \0/

  8. Wasn't that great! We got rain here as well. My new kitten didn't know what the sound was and kept staring at the ceiling hahaha.

  9. Thrilled for you and the rest of the folk in Texas

  10. I bought a new aloe plant but it didn't come with an id tag. Could you look at the picture and try to identify it? Its the last picture on my "New Plants" post. Thanks!

I always appreciate your comments & questions! Happy Gardening from David/ Tropical Texana
