Gaura 'Siskiyou Pink'
In some ways, this Texas native reminds me of little orchids. The long, wispy stems can cascade over a rock wall, or mesh with agaves and other xeric plants. These were part of the planting I did up at our church during the blast furnace summer. As you can see, it's a survivor.
As with most wildflowers, the little plants aren't that exciting. But look at all those bloom stems!
Here's another image later in the day.

Gaura is a beautiful plant. I had it in my gardens a couple of years ago but it didn't survive the winter. Boo hoo!

ReplyDeleteEYE spy!! is my link for today.
Gauras are great!
ReplyDeleteIts flowers look like butterflies dancing.
Cuttings are easy to do, I always remember doing some.
Last year, I cultivated a variegated variety, Gaura Corrie's gold. She is beautiful! Also resistant to drought but not so well to the cold.
I have to try again!
I just love gauras, but find them so hard to take their picture! You did well capturing their beauty.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty. I so enjoy seeing the plants/vegitation from other parts of the world.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I also enjoyed your Halloween plant series below and I do remember the Addams Family and the Munsters (boy am I OLD!).
Wow...that's a beautiful flower. It really does look like an orchid. I do like your photo header.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely flower!

ReplyDeleteŚliczne zdjęcia zrobiłaś tym uroczym kwiatkom.Miałam już je w ogródku raz, ale nie po jakimś czasie zniknęły. W tym roku zasadziłam nowe. Pozdrawiam
ReplyDeleteGiga in English...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures of the lovely flowers you did. I have had them in the garden once, but after a while disappeared. This year we planted a new one. Yours
I got to know this plant a little bit when I was visiting Austin earlier this year. I went to the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center (or something like that!) Gaura was one of the plants in bloom- but it was red, I think. It must have a long blooming cycle since that was back in April!
